The Art of Elysium, a nonprofit organization that pairs volunteers from the arts with children battling serious medical conditions, has announced actress Ali Larter and husband Hayes MacArthur as the next Spirit of Elysium award recipients. Jennifer Howell, the organization’s founder, made the announcement at the LA Art Show opening night party Wednesday.
All the proceeds from the premiere party will help the Art of Elysium’s efforts to increase the number of school children who visit the Getty Museum through its Title One School visits program.
The award is given each year to an artist that has shown consistency in volunteering for the organization. The program’s participating artists provide acting, art, comedy, fashion, music, radio, songwriting and creative writing workshops for ill children.
Larter and MacArthur are the first couple to ever receive the award. Past recipients include David Arquette, Elijah Wood, James Franco, Kirsten Dunst and Eva Mendes.
Larter and MacArthur will be officially honored at the Art of Elysium’s seventh annual Heaven Gala, to be held in January 2014.
EXCLUSIVE: Former Heroes star Ali Larter has been tapped as the female lead opposite Sean Bean in TNT‘s drama pilot Legends, from Homeland‘s Howard Gordon. Legends, developed by Gordon, Jeffrey Nachmanoff and Mark Bomback from the novel by Robert Littell, centers on Martin Odum (Sean Bean), a deep-cover CIA operative who has an uncanny ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. Larter will play Crystal, an operative with D.C.O. who has a history with Martin and initially objects to his return to the task force. Co-starring in the pilot, from 20th TV’s Fox 21, are Steve Harris, Amber Valletta, Rob Mayes, Tina Majorino and Lux Haney Jardine. This marks the second consecutive pilot starring role for Larter at 20th TV, which also cast her as the lead in another CIA drama last season, Fox’s The Asset. Legends is executive produced by Gordon, Nachmanoff, Alex Cary and Jonathan Levin and showrunners Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff.

The Apollo missions have been the cause of much wonder and speculation, and a new feature based upon the book by author Barry N. Malzberg entitled Beyond Apollo is casting up and headed our way.
Directed by Michael Grodner, Beyond Apollo stars the recently signed Ali Larter (“Heroes”, Resident Evil), Scott Speedman (Underworld), and Bill Pullman (Independence Day, The Serpent and the Rainbow, Lost Highway).
Produced by Aaron Ockman (Children of the Corn: Genesis, Hellraiser: Revelations), the interstellar terror tale now has the support of sales company Stealth Media Group with Cloverfield director Matt Reeves signing on as an executive producer. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in the fall.
Look for more on this flick soon. In the interim dig on the plot details below.
The first two-man mission to Venus is aborted in mid-flight and abruptly returns back to Earth. When rescue crews go to retrieve the space capsule, they make a startling discovery: The Captain is missing, there is no sign of his body whatsoever – and strangely enough, the lone surviving astronaut has no clue about what took place.
Beyond Apollo tells the riveting story of when that astronaut, Harry Evans, returns to earth and must answer to the authorities about what really happened on board the doomed flight to Venus. His mind-bending struggle to figure that out is a harrowing journey through the possibilities: Was the Captain murdered? Did he commit suicide? Or were alien beings responsible for his demise? The answer, as Evans will eventually discover, is far more terrifying than anything he could possibly imagine.
Based on the award winning book by Barry N. Malzberg, Beyond Apollo captures the eerie isolation of delving into the unknown, begs us to ask the unanswerable, and marks the separation between the real, unreal and surreal.

Sorry for posting this late.
The FOX spy drama pilot The Asset has suddenly become a whole lot more interesting.
EW.com is reporting that Heroes vet and Resident Evil heroine Ali Larter has been cast in the lead role of the pilot, a photojournalist named Anna King who is best known for her pictures of popular global locations. In reality, the photojournalist thing is a cover, and she is actually a globe-trotting “Human Intel Specialist” working for the CIA.
The Asset also has a great asset on the creative side; it is created and executive produced by Josh Friedman, showrunner of the late but loved Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles series.
